Petra Hart (Hoorn, 26 July 1972) is a Dutch contemporary artist. Since 2001, she has been developing long-term conceptual series in which sculpture, installation, photography, light and digital drawing complement one another.
Her work is built around consecutive series that, in retrospect, reveal a single, coherent oeuvre. The relationship between these series only became fully apparent after twenty-five years.
In 2026, True Blue was published, an artist’s book presenting twenty-five years of work as one coherent body of work for the first time.
Her work has been exhibited at Sotheby’s Amsterdam, Wereldmuseum Rotterdam, PAN Amsterdam, PK37 Haarlem, Gorcums Museum, Josilda da Conceição Gallery, BYOB - Upstream Gallery × Oedipus Brewery, and at various international art fairs.
Alongside her autonomous artistic practice, Petra Hart initiated projects such as AMFAD, AiR Spaander and Art Zuiderzee, bringing together artists, designers and locations.
Before dedicating herself fully to her artistic practice, she worked for eight years as an art director at international advertising agencies. This background in concept development and visual communication continues to form an important foundation of her work.
Petra Hart works from Atelier De Parade at Paleis Soestdijk, on the edge of the Baarn Woods in Baarn.
