With 5-in-1 Tunics, my work left the wall for the first time and became wearable.
The lines from my earlier art series formed the basis of a collection of silk tunics that can be worn in multiple ways. By tying one design in different ways and wearing it on either side, new silhouettes and compositions emerge.
The collection evolved through three connected series: Treasures of Nature, inspired by natural forms and insects, Van Gogh Based, in which my drawings merged with fragments of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, and Explore, where the line became increasingly free and experimental.
My drawings are printed on high-quality Crêpe de Chine silk and crafted in the Netherlands as wearable artworks.
For the Van Gogh Based series, a special art box was created, including a silk tunic, matching belt, the travel booklet The Journey of Vincent van Gogh – In the Footsteps of Vincent, and a certificate of authenticity.
With 5-in-1 Tunics, a drawing became something not only to look at, but also to wear. The body became part of the artwork.
More about this art series can be found in the artist’s book True Blue.
