Eye of Kingfisher
Description
Eye of Kingfisher is about constantly changing light. Because the work hangs at a distance from the wall, its cast shadow changes throughout the day from light grey to dark grey, blue-violet and eventually almost black.
The kingfisher itself also changes continually under the influence of light. Its blue feathers contain no blue pigment; the color is created by the way light is scattered within the structure of the feathers.
Light, color and perception therefore come together as the starting point for this work.
Eye of Kingfisher is part of the art series Treasures in Detail.
