Blue Jeans Frog
Description
The blue colour of the Blue Jeans Frog is not caused by blue pigment but by the structure of its skin. Light is scattered within the skin making the frog appear blue. At the same time this colour acts as a warning: the frog is highly poisonous.
The remarkable combination of colour, skin structure and signalling function forms the starting point for this work.
Blue Jeans Frog is part of the art series Treasures of Nature.
