Kingfisher
Description
The beak of the kingfisher inspired engineer Eiji Nakatsu to shape the Japanese Shinkansen making the train quieter, faster and more energy-efficient.
The kingfisher returns at different moments throughout my work. In True Blue it becomes clear that for me it also represents movement: purposeful, forward, continuing - and ultimately the realization that sometimes slowing down is necessary.
Kingfisher is part of the art series Treasures of Nature.
