The 'Art tour serving treasures of nature’ in the studio of artist Petra Hart is part of the art series Treasures of nature. Her process can be called chromatographic; from a concentrated drop of experience she creates a diverse palette of techniques and associative images with which she approaches a once living being as closely as possible. She does not limit herself to an object on the wall, but serves her treasures as food and makes these small histories part of social networks with the help of encounters. She shows the external beauty and wonderful mathematics of insects, but at the same time refers to processes of globalization and food scarcity. A grasshopper is both an evolution-perfected pest for agricultural land and a more nature-friendly source of protein for the world's population. Eating insects has been commonplace in many areas for centuries, but is only now making its appearance in Western Europe as a possible solution to the heavy dependence on bio-industry. Global and often contradictory processes are thus linked to the body of a single specimen of the species.

Petra's studio is located a stone's throw from UNESCO's Naarden-Vesting (Fortress). Nice to start the day in this picturesque town. A trip around the fortress on top of the old ramparts is 5 km.
