Neon Heart

Neon Heart was created during the 2020 lockdown. While doctors urged people to stay home, the red heart became widely used as a simple sign of care, support and connection.

The work consists of hand-blown red glass, connected to the transformer by two twisted anthracite-colored cables. The heart is kept in a white wooden box that forms part of the artwork, resting on preserved rose petals.

Neon Heart is the first work in a series of ideograms and emoticons in which I explore how a simple form can communicate meaning and emotion without words.
